Hands clasped, softly we walk the bed of cedar, a new wind out of the north, stop to watch a diving loon, admire rocks at land's edge awash in teal and cobalt blues, snakes--two of them--faded brown, an Indian paintbrush swaying in orange. Now overhead the whisper of wings--
EggHarbor's Annual Pumpkin Patch Festival is one of the best events in
DoorCounty for kids. It's held the first weekend of each October in downtown
EggHarbor. Going strong now for about two decades, Pumpkin Patch seems to have become synonymouswith colorful fall fun on the
Peninsula. People come from all over the
Midwest and beyond, year after year, to soak in the feeling this busy event imbues. They eat, play, relax, and depart with cheer. Children are major participants in this festival.
Kids truly love Pumpkin Patch Festival, plain and simple. Why?
Fans of
traditional straight ahead jazz that soothes the soul always find what
they're looking for when the kids from Birch Creek Music Camp play
together. Year after year the different groups comprising the Jazz
Ambassadors validate how serious musicians who don't know each other
can quickly become a combo and weave gorgeous harmonies and enchanting
melodies.
Jefferson Street in Sturgeon Bay is the venue for a small but fun Saturday festival in July. On the city's northside, this street has a large number of small shops and galleries on both sides, often referred to as the Jefferson Street Shops. You can't miss them if you're headed out of town, since this is the main drag and flows into Egg Harbor Road and then back to Highway 42/57 north. It doesn't take a long time to capture the essence of the fest.
